In Business 20 Years
I’m a journalism major who, over the past 20 years, has used her training and skills to ask the right questions, search the right places and “write right” to help businesses like yours look good and save time.

I started my writing business, Creative Business Ink, working out of my home before it became common and before personal computers were generally available (Okay, I admit it. I’m older than dirt!).

Earlier I had worked as a writer in the public relations department of the Minnesota Medical Association. I also worked for the Minnesota State Fair and a small, Twin Cities public relations firm. I’m a University of Minnesota School of Journalism alumna.

Acquainted with a Variety of Industries
Over the years I’ve completed hundreds of successful projects for businesses ranging from food and equipment manufacturers, to janitorial service companies, cooperatives, high-tech companies, and medical and sociological organizations. I’ve enjoyed working with companies like Faribault Foods, Inc.; CHS, Inc.; Marsden Building Maintenance; Cub Foods; Imation; Coca-Cola Bottling (Johnston Division) and dozens of small businesses.

Because of my experience, I understand what it takes to write
strong copy.

• I take special pride in my interviewing skills.
• I’ve fostered an ability to write in vastly different styles, which allows
me to create innovative and effective copy for a variety of audiences
and mediums, and to help you accomplish your goals.

In my spare time I love reading novels (Anne Tyler, John Hassler, Elmore Leonard). My favorite day begins with a second cup of coffee and dawdling over the St. Paul Pioneer Press. I knit and play tennis, and I’m an outdoors girl who particularly enjoys hiking and canoeing.

Working as a freelance business writer takes time away from these hobbies, of course, but I enjoy my job. From how to clean a hard drive, to how the pesky corn flea beetle affects corn crops, to how to select compact fluorescent lights, I learn—and enjoy learning—something new daily.
